Save the Elkader Keystone Bridge

Donation protected
In rural northeast Iowa, the small town of Elkader surrounds both sides of the Turkey River connected by a historic keystone bridge. The iconography and identity of that bridge are weaved in the very fabric of Elkader. It's stood for over 130 years as a testament to the ingenuity and unity of our citizens.

During some maintenance of the bridge, disaster struck our small town as a crack that showed no signs of movement for 14 years started opening up. Work was halted, experts were called in, and we were left with difficult news. The only path to saving the bridge was to invest nearly $2 million in repairs.

This is where we need your help. The repair stands to have a serious impact on our budget for years to come. Any money you give now can help make sure we are not feeling the burden of this repair as we continue to make needed investments in other areas of infrastructure around our city.

The repairs and maintenance we want to complete will make this structure something that will stand for hundreds of years to come. It will remind generations of the work, dedication, ingenuity, and now community sacrifice necessary to maintain our connection to each other in this city divided by this river in the rural landscape of northeast Iowa.
