Since 2019, the building has suffered from a combination of derecho-related wind damage and façade structural separating from the primary building framework that has been accelerated by heavy municipal construction in the adjacent alley.
The insurer denied the façade claim, citing "maintenance issues" and "inadequate prior repairs," while simultaneously refusing a full roof replacement despite acknowledging storm damage. Most critically, the insurer closed the claim file without prior notification to the stakeholders, effectively denying the insured their right to a fair resolution or appeal.
