Save the After School Program
Tax deductible
In June, July and August 2024, individuals and community organizations donated and secured $7,660 in the GoFundMe account.
Others donated by check or cash directly to McIntosh Memorial Library.
As of Friday, August 9th over $10,000 total has been raised!
If $5,500 more dollars can be raised by Friday, October 11th, the program will operate Mondays through Thursdays beginning November 4th, 2024 - May 22nd, 2025.
Now, the goal set on the GoFundMe page includes the $7660 (already raised) plus the additional $5,500 to equal the $13,160 GOAL!
You can donate to the GoFundMe page directly. Or, write checks to McIntosh Memorial Library with the After School Program noted and submit your pledge to the library's front desk. Cash will also be accepted at the library's front desk.
If $5,500 more dollars can be raised, registration for the After School Program will be held online beginning Monday, October 14th, 2024.
A big thank you to Vernon Memorial Hospital for pledging a generous amount to the campaign!
A big thank you to Mississippi Mayhem Roller Derby for pledging a generous amount to the campaign!
Viroqua Area Schools has provided funding for the program since its inception in 2017, but unfortunately due to a budget deficit, the school district is no longer in a financial position to fund the program.
This news was devastating to not only the children, but to the parents in this rural community where childcare, especially for school aged children, is scarce.
The after school program provides a safe, nurturing, community-focused space where any student- whether they be enrolled in private, charter, public or home-schools can come to socialize, learn and interact with the community.
The program serves children in the first through fourth grades who are enrolled in the public schools, private schools, chartered schools or are home-schooled.
Children enjoy the benefits of busing, outdoor activities, exercise, games, educational presentations, STEM activities, arts/crafts and adventures around the community as well as healthy snacks, all at NO COST to the families.
Donations will support the staffs' salaries, a small allocation for supplies and equipment, and cover the GoFundMe tax deductions.
We are asking the community, friends, family and others to rally together to help save this program for another year. Unfortunately, we weren’t given much notice, so swift actions need to be taken. In order for the program to operate all funds need to be raised by Friday, October 11th by 11:59pm.
Please consider donating to help our kids and help our community by continuing this very valuable program while we explore grants and alternative funding sources for subsequent years with hope of expansion to serve more families in the community.
