Save Starlight: Help Us Revive San Diego's Historic Gem

Save Starlight needs your help to save the Starlight Bowl in Balboa Park, San Diego!

The Starlight Bowl, a 4,000-seat outdoor amphitheater, was originally commissioned by the Ford Motor Company for the 1935 California-Pacific Exposition. Over the years, it has grown into one of San Diego's favorite, historic, and precious gems. Families across multiple generations have developed a passion and dedication to Starlight's events, saddened to see it abandoned in despair.

Save Starlight has a new vision for this Historic Landmark. We're all about the arts of any and all kinds. We see a place where young and old can come to watch whatever interests them. Imagine a new generation of diverse and scalable events!

We envision Starlight as a multifaceted creative playground where 28 million park visitors are exposed to San Diego's rising stars. Starlight will be a hub for the community - with cutting-edge content and technology.

Our Challenge:

The City of San Diego has issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) for the operation and restoration of the Starlight Bowl. This is our chance to secure the operating rights and begin the journey of restoring this cultural gem. But to seize this opportunity, we need your help.

Our Goal: $30,000 for a Chance to Make History

We need to raise $30,000 to create a comprehensive, professional proposal in response to the RFP. Your donation will directly fund the working capital desperately needed to keep Save Starlight (a 501(C)3 non-profit organization) operating through this process.

Here are some examples of what your donation can do for us:

-a $200 donation covers one day of our full-time site security to protect Starlight from any further theft and vandalism

-a $50 donation covers a month of utilities at Starlight's small HQ in Old Town

-a $25 donation helps fund marketing efforts to get the word out that we need help to save this historic gem!
