Want to join us in making a real difference?
We are raising funds to support the restoration of St Michael’s Church, and every contribution — regardless of size — will help secure the long-term future of this important heritage asset.
About The Ark of the Lord
We are seeking to raise £1 million towards the restoration of St Michael’s Church, a Grade II listed building in Ipswich, originally constructed in 1890. Following a serious arson attack in 2010, the building was left roofless and exposed to the elements for an extended period. As a result, St Michael’s is now recognised as an at-risk heritage property, requiring urgent intervention to prevent further deterioration and loss of historic fabric.
In 2022, we acquired the building with a clear and sustainable vision: to conserve and restore St Michael’s in accordance with best-practice conservation principles, while bringing it back into active use as a place of worship and a music and education centre delivering meaningful public benefit.
The project will safeguard the architectural and historic significance of the church, remove it from the Heritage at Risk register, and provide a resilient future through community use, learning, creativity, and cultural engagement.
Your support will help conserve this historic building, protect its significance for future generations, and ensure it once again plays a positive and active role at the heart of the local community.
Thank you for supporting a project of lasting heritage, cultural, and community value to Ipswich.
