Our cherished green belt in St Mary Cray is under imminent threat, and we need your help to protect it. A major developer LIH (Land Improvements Holdings) is pushing to build a massive 350-home development on the agricultural fields between Burrfield Drive, Crockenhill Chelsfield Rd and Cockmannings Road.
While Bromley Council has issued a resolution to refuse this inappropriate development, the fight is far from over. The developers are using new planning loopholes to exploit our fields as "grey belt," and the final decision has been pushed to the planning Inspectorate.
We must be ready to defend our countryside.
The Real Threats to Our Community:
Loss of Protected Farmland:
This development will cause a permanent, irreversible loss of open, rural green space and severe urban sprawl.
Severe Flooding Risks:
The site sits on a known flood zone with an underground river network. Covering natural fields in concrete will drastically increase the risk of severe surface water flooding to nearby homes.
Strain on Infrastructure:
Our narrow country lanes cannot cope with the resulting traffic chaos, Lack of public transport, Local schools, GP surgeries, and hospitals are already overstretched.
Destruction of Wildlife:
The area is a vital habitat for many species of wildlife, including protected species of badgers and birds of prey, right next to sensitive protected ancient woodland.
