Save Sputnik! We've been robbed. . .

Hi friends and fans, some disappointing news:

This week we discovered that our business trailer was broken into while parked in front of our studio. The thieves took off with several of our DeWalt cases, containing our custom curtains and additional pieces for the Sputnik Stage. What is Sputnik Stage?

What was stolen: The Austrian-style curtains are fireproof, heavy-duty custom pieces from Rose Brand. In addition, there are dozens of other custom-designed pieces that make up the beautiful aesthetic of our drivable satellite stage. These pieces will cost over $5K to replace. We are hoping to cover the full cost of replacement, but honestly, every dollar will help to offset this loss. Unfortunately, even this large sum is not enough to justify an insurance claim.

Over the last 6 years, Sputnik Stage has been seen everywhere, from festivals to guerrilla-style street shows in the pandemic, drive-in movie nights and free community shows. Sputnik Stage has provided a platform for dance companies like Cleo Parker Robinson, Bella Diva Dance and Samba Colorado, spoken word poets, bucket drummers, jugglers, jazz musicians, yoyo heroes, violinists and of course, our own troupe Handsome Little Devils.

If a Sputnik show has inspired you, we are asking for your help to replace what was stolen and get Sputnik back out on the streets. Beyond the hard costs of replacing everything, we will also have to keep Sputnik grounded for the upcoming holiday season--a significant loss to our income as well as the many artists we employ to perform tree lightings and holiday events with the stage.

We are crushed that someone would steal from us, especially when we know these pieces are useless to anyone besides our Sputnik crew. We appreciate your help in bringing our beautiful stage back to life. We hope we will see you out there soon!
