Dear supporter, we are reaching out to you with a heartfelt appeal to raise funds to keep the SoilSistars Land thriving.

Our journey toward self-sustainability and providing empowering food growing and land sovereignty workshops is at risk, and we need your support to continue working at Falcon Fields Allotment.

As a young Community Interest Company (CIC) entering our third year, we've already achieved significant milestones, but we've faced financial challenges.

With only one funding source in our first year, the SoilSistars land programmes have been the backbone, funding the land and supporting it through in-person and online virtual learning courses, enterprise initiatives, and school programs teaching over 100 children and young people weekly to grow natural food with love.

Our current fundraising goal of £5000 is aimed at securing a year’s rent on the allotment farm lands, secure outdoor classroom and indoor growing space, deliver traditional land skills programmes and supporting Mama Selma, a proud Guyanese elder who has been farming at Falcon Fields allotment lands for 50 years. She, like many elders, relies on the land for strength and sustenance. However, rising rent prices imposed by the council threaten the very essence of this community and the well-being of our elders, most of whom belong to the Windrush generation.

In the face of a cost-of-living crisis, the council's decision to increase rent by 200% Mama Selma, at 89 years old, exemplifies the spirit of the land, giving away everything she grows. We can't let her and others like her lose this vital connection.

We are challenging this decision, advocating for the democracy of the land, and fighting against the displacement of a community that has thrived for over 50 years. We need your support to continue negotiating with the council and ensuring our community's voices are heard.

Our commitment is fueled by love and trust, as we work tirelessly to bring in resources. We are currently building a SoilSistars network to empower women of African and Caribbean heritage in working with the land and establishing our presence in sustainable Agroecological farming in the UK.

Our ultimate goal is to have our own farm in the future. This appeal truly goes beyond GoGrowWithLove. It’s a movement for autonomy and self-sustainability for working-class people, and for a majority Afro-Caribbean community.

The land serves as a place of respite, learning, and community building, transcending then SoilSistar's alone.
