Hey everyone!

Here at Smallwood Village Swim Club, we are a safe and inclusive community that serves the local population in many ways. In the past few years, we have opened the gates to the public, have increased our community partners, and doubled our swim lesson opportunities. The pool was fully relined anew in 2023. The property offers tons of shade, water basketball, sand volleyball, soccer nets, badminton courts, multiple grills, cornhole games, and more.

The Swim Club used to be private only. However, in the last couple years we have opened the doors to the amazing community. We still primarily run on our membership but have opened the gates to the public and run several public programs. This change has allowed birthday parties to be thrown at the pool, vacationing families to enjoy our facilities, and the local homeschool community to make this location a gathering point, just to name a few. We have also opened our doors to a wonderful Day Camp that utilizes our pool throughout the Summer as well.

However, we are currently running into a very serious issue and may have to close the doors forever. This year we ran into three major issues that have set us on this pathway of need. (1) A combination of the early Memorial Day and the school snow days pushing true opening out a week caused a shift in our natural membership trends. (2) The prior has caused our normal membership levels to be significantly lower than normal (by about 40 memberships). These memberships are what support the overhead cost of the pool all 12 months of the year. (3) And, MOST IMPORTANTLY, we had several, several equipment and operations hiccups that have taken and utilized the emergency funds in higher rates this year. We have a few high price equipment items that are desperately needing repaired this season for continual operations into the future.

Therefore, the perfect situation has sadly come about where the lower membership rates, combined with the higher emergency costs, has caused our financial need to become desperate. So, the time has come to discuss the possible need to close our doors forever. The decision must be made within 7 days if we do not receive any help. This would be a huge disservice to the local community in so many ways. We are asking for your help to SAVE THE POOL!

We need to raise approximately $100,000 to replace the broken equipment and save the pool. We have graciously been awarded a matching donation from a long-time member. But we have to raise the dedicated match in the next 7-days to receive this donation. $2500 will be matched for every $2500 raised*. We are kindly asking, begging, pleading, if you have ever enjoyed the pool, would love to enjoy the pool again, that you help us reach our goal.

This money will be used for direct operational costs, repair costs, and replacement costs. Some of these items may include chemical needs, staff support, equipment repairs (like a broken lifeguard umbrella chair, new filter, baby pool), etc. If your donation requires more specific information about what it would/could cover, our Treasurer would be happy to schedule a time to chat.
