Save SELAH's Mobile Shower Program
Tax deductible
Hello friends! Some of you may know that I've raised money in the past for SELAH Neighborhood Homeless Coalition , a wonderful nonprofit based in East LA that provides resources like drop-in centers, food, basic care kits, help navigating the legal/housing system, and more.
Today I am working with them on a specific goal. The latest LA City budget cut funding for a mobile shower program that serves the local homeless population. While SELAH and others are trying to help fix this, the nonprofit risks losing its Echo Park and Silver Lake shower programs.
As I'm sure you can imagine, this would be a huge blow--these hygiene services give thousands of unhoused Angelenos the opportunity to reset, and can be invaluable for folks looking for job opportunities and more. It's a seemingly small thing that makes a massive, massive difference in helping folks restore their dignity and confidence.
I am hoping to raise enough money to keep one of the programs going for a while. $29,000 pays for 6 months of showers!
And along those lines, I'd like to offer a couple of perks for donating...
$60+
Anyone who donates $60 gets a video message from yours truly addressing...anything. Birthdays. Fantasy football taunts. Go Birds chants. Please nothing Malcolm Butler related.
$575+
Anyone who donates $575 or more gets a custom watercolor painting. I made a bunch of these a few years ago and attached a few examples! Would you like a painting of your dog? Your baby? Derrick Henry?
For both options all I ask is no one asks for anything *too* ornate or, uh, weird. Someone from SELAH will be in touch in the coming days to see if you want one of the gifts and facilitate!
I will match the first $1,000 raised from either videos or paintings to get the ball rolling....
That's it for now! Thank you so much for even considering helping here - a little goes a long way towards helping people who really need it.
Love
