Since the temporary closure of the ford, we have seen a remarkable transformation: the return of kingfishers and otters, the restoration of local tranquility, and the creation of a truly safe route for residents and visitors alike.

The Problem: Ignoring the Experts

Despite the clear benefits of the closure, the Council is now proposing to turn its back on its own internal expert advice. Instead of the recommended permanent closure, they are pushing a "hairbrained" scheme (TRO 3420) involving road humps and gates—measures that experts warn will not stop the social media crowds and will be vulnerable to vandalism and mechanical failure.

Our Solution: The Human Factors Report

To fight this effectively, we need to meet the Council with professional evidence. We are commissioning an independent Human Factors Expert Report.

Why "Human Factors"? Because the issue at Rufford Ford isn't just about water or roads; it's about behaviour. A Human Factors expert will provide the technical evidence to prove that the Council's proposed measures will actually encourage reckless "spectacle" behaviour rather than deterring it. This report will be a vital tool in our legal objection to ensure the Council cannot simply ignore the safety risks.
