URGENT: Please Help Save Ringo, the Senior Cat in Desperate Need of Vet Care
Hello, my name is Irina Robinson, and I live in Toms River, New Jersey.
Ringo is a senior, deaf cat who spent her whole life on the streets. She’s over 12 years old (possibly 14) and now suffering from severe dental issues. Her jaw is swollen, her mouth bleeds and leaks pus, and she’s in constant, excruciating pain. According to neighbors, this condition began long ago but has worsened without medical care.
I’ve been caring for Ringo for the past year, helping her through a brutal winter with an insulated cat house and heating pad on my porch. Once I dewormed her and provided healthy food, her health improved—she even started playing and chasing birds again.
But recently, she stopped eating for four days. She’d cry out in pain every time her mouth touched food. It was heartbreaking. I was finally able to trap her and take her to GSVS on April 24. She had to be sedated for an exam, which revealed a growth in her mouth. We don’t yet know if it’s benign or malignant—I couldn’t afford the biopsy. Surgery is needed either way, and it could cost several thousand dollars. Her initial vet visit already cost nearly $600, which I had to cover using a credit card, as no payment plan options were offered.
My husband is disabled, and we also care for three other rescued cats. We simply can’t do this alone.
She’s eating again—four times just this morning! But once the meds run out, the pain will return, and she may stop eating again. I fear I’ll be forced to put her down simply because we can’t afford treatment.
Animal Control offered no help—just euthanasia. But Ringo wants to live. She still has fight and spirit. She deserves a chance.
Update on Ringo: Preparing for Surgery & Ongoing Care
Ringo is now on a month-long course of medications to help manage her pain and infection while we prepare for her upcoming oral surgery. She’s currently taking:
Gabapentin (for pain relief)
Clavamox (antibiotic)
PredniSOLONE (anti-inflammatory steroid)
Her oral surgery is scheduled for the end of May, and will include multiple tooth extractions. This procedure is expected to significantly reduce inflammation and help get her gingivitis and stomatitis under control — both of which have been causing her a great deal of discomfort.
However, Ringo will need post-surgical care, including follow-up visits, medications, and special food to help her recover and stay stable.
Please consider donating to help cover her ongoing treatment and recovery.
Every contribution helps ease her pain and gives her a real chance at a healthy, happy life.
Please help me save her. Every dollar and every share matters.
Thank you for being part of Ringo’s journey.
