It's been a challenging year for Pride events nationwide, with cancellations due to funding and volunteer shortages. Reading Pride is experiencing similar difficulties and we don’t want to put up a similar announcement - but we have to face the facts. Each year, it costs over £110,000 to host the Reading Pride Parade and Festival and our dedicated volunteer committee works tirelessly to raise every single penny.

The Challenge We Face

Crucially, support from local companies and organisations has halved, leaving us with a £30,000 deficit just weeks before the event. We believe in being transparent with our community, which is why we're sharing this with you.

Reading Pride is more than just an event; it's a vital platform for our community. It champions local talent, supports charities and businesses and most importantly, provides a safe and vibrant space for people to connect, celebrate, campaign and be visible.

Your Support is More Critical Than Ever

We will carry on as planned this year - but we need you.

As a donation-led event, we've always relied on the generosity of our attendees. This year, your support at the gate will make an unprecedented difference. Last year, out of around 11,000 attendees, only about 20% donated £3. While we deeply appreciate every contribution, we simply cannot continue without increased support.

This year, we're asking for a £4 donation at the gate, if you are able to give it. We truly believe this offers incredible value for a day packed with entertainment, including three stages, a sports area, family entertainment, over 100 stalls, a fairground and a wide array of food and drink options. Our goal is to keep Pride accessible and affordable for everyone.
