Save Quinn Lake: Let’s Buy It Back for Future Generations

Protect This Outdoor Legacy Before It’s Too Late

For decades, Quinn Lake has been a place to connect with nature, with each other, and with something bigger. But unless we act by May 20, we could lose it forever.

The Ontario Teachers’ Federation is selling the land. Every dollar will go toward purchasing the property, covering legal fees, and creating a nonprofit that ensures Quinn Lake remains a sanctuary for teachers, families, and the wider community.

Let’s protect the place where memories are made.

Why This Matters:
For nearly 60 years, the Quinn Lake Campground has been more than just a campsite - it’s been a cherished gathering place for families, friends, and entire communities. Generations have camped here, forging lifelong memories, teaching outdoor education, and supporting local businesses.

In 1959, the land was entrusted to the Ontario Teachers’ Federation (OTF) with the intent of serving the community and preserving Ontario’s natural beauty. Today, the campground faces permanent closure as part of a broader decision about the land’s future.

While we understand that circumstances and priorities can evolve, the potential sale of this land raises important questions about how treasured community spaces are protected and preserved. The closure of Quinn Lake would have a lasting impact on local schools, seasonal staff, small businesses, and the families who return year after year.

We believe there’s still an opportunity to shape a positive outcome - one where this special place continues to serve the public, in partnership with those who care deeply about its future.

How the Funds Will Be Used:
This campaign originally set out to raise funds to support legal and organizational efforts. As the situation has evolved, we are now focused on raising as much as possible to support a competitive bid to acquire the campground.

All funds will continue to be used solely to advance this mission, with updates made to reflect the current phase of the effort:

  • Legal Counsel & Representation - To help structure the legal partnership and oversee the sale process (updated from originally challenging the sale)
  • Co-op and Business Structure Setup - To establish a limited partnership for placing a formal bid and subsequent non-profit to operate the campground (updated to reflect acquisition readiness)
  • Buffer & Unexpected Costs - To cover legal, administrative, or operational needs during bid preparation and beyond (no change)
  • Additional Funds - To contribute directly toward placing a competitive offer and securing Quinn Lake’s legacy (especially valuable if you're not buying a share - every donation helps)

We remain committed to full transparency, and all funds will be directed toward protecting and preserving Quinn Lake in alignment with the campaign’s original intent.

How You Can Help:
We need you to act fast and responsibly. The timeline is short, but we are committed to following due diligence in making a thoughtful, community-led purchase.
