Save Pleasant Valley from Industrial Development
Donation protected
We are a group of concerned Fairfax County, VA residents fighting to save our neighborhoods, our quality of life and the environment around us from the destructive pace at which Fairfax County is rezoning acres of land at the request of land owners who are looking to make millions off the Data Center boom.
Currently a land owner is attempting to rezone land to a more industrial use near a Resource Protection Area and Cub Run stream (a tributary to the Occoquan Reservoir which supplies drinking water to over 800,000 residents), and near the Pleasant Valley residential community, in order to build the tallest data center in all of Fairfax County. The county is poised to accept the application even though many County departments, the Airport’s Authority and citizens have raised grave concerns. Please visit sites.google.com/view/savepv for more details.
We are raising funds to help offset the mounting costs of opposing this rezoning which include basic supplies (paper, labels, ink, etc), professional authoritative sources to verify/support our positions (e.g. detriments of 24/7 continuous noise on people and the environmental, air and water pollution from massive diesel generators, etc), and possible legal action. Our first fundraising milestone is September 1st in order to prepare for the first public hearing on September 20th.
Any amount that you are willing to contribute is greatly appreciated. If you aren’t able to contribute at this time, please share this funding effort with other concerned residents and businesses. Any unused contributions will be donated to the Pleasant Valley community pool (www.pvrec.org) which is only supported through voluntary membership and has been struggling to recover from the staggering revenue loss due to the pandemic. We thank you so much for your generosity and concern.
