Two local farmers are partnering as the Plainfield Granary in order to save the Plainfield Community Center by purchasing the building that was home to it for over 50 years.

This winter, the organization Plainfield Granary LC was created in order to accomplish this mission.

On May 20th, the final tally came in, and the Co-op membership voted "yes" on the sale of the building, supporting our mission to purchase and retain this wonderful resource and reopen the historic property to the Plainfield Community.

Currently, the process of closing the purchase is underway, but may take several weeks to finalize, due to the complexity of this real estate transaction.

The Community Center is a vital resource for social support, entrepreneurs, and community outreach.

Our goal is to buy the building and maintain the community center, in order to preserve this vital resource in the community of Plainfield, Vermont.

This fundraiser is intended to support and speed the process of Plainfield Granary acquiring the building from the Plainfield Cooperative Market.

Our mission is to save this community resource and preserve this historic building. We are negotiating with the co-op board to purchase the property as Plainfield Granary LC. Our organization consists of Christopher F Thompson of Owl Hill Farm in Plainfield, and Aedan Scribner of Flycatcher Farm in Cabot.

In completion of the purchase of the property at 153 main Street in Plainfield VT, these funds will go directly to the Plainfield Granary LC to support the business in it's mission to renovate and expand the capacity of the building. We are prioritizing the Plainfield Community Center and maintaining public access to the building.

If for any reason the sale of the building is not finalized and we do not acquire it, all donations will be refunded in full.
