We're now upping the ante with the campaign. We need help and support to ramp up the fight and help fund our extended "camping trip"
Thank you
Wednesday 29th March 2023, the Government finally confirmed leaked reports that the Home Office intend to turn RAF Scampton into an Asylum seeker accommodation centre, housing a potential 2000 people.
This would destroy a £300m regeneration plan to create a centre for the future aviation and space industry, generating 1000+ jobs. Local plans include a heritage centre to honour Scampton’s proud history as the home of the ‘Dambusters’ 617 Squadron and many others who served here, including the Red Arrows.
The regeneration plans are outlined in more detail at https://www.scampton.org/
The community living on the former Married Quarters, including serving military personnel families (a combined population of less than 690) are going to fight this decision, in the hope, the local growth and heritage plan can go ahead.
How You Can Help
We need to raise funds for banners, placards, posters, leaflets, and other campaign materials and expenses for our fight.
Once all receipts relating to the campaign have been collected and totalled (and made public on the campaign Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/groups/567446275352928/?ref=share_group_link ).
Any money left over will be donated to the Royal Air Force Benevolent fund and the receipt also shared.
Please also sign our petition which will be delivered to the Home Office in due course, which you can find by clicking the link below.
