UPDATE As of 2/23:
On February 23rd, High Point University shared it withdrew its proposal to reroute the greenway. Instead, they will work with the city to address safety and mobility concerns through increased security cameras, lighting, and pedestrian bridges. We requested engineering plans for the bridges but were told they are not yet available and that construction is years away. We are prepared to monitor agendas and minutes for as long as necessary to ensure transparency in this process.
Thank You! This victory was only possible because of the collective action of everyone who got involved—whether by joining the Facebook group, donating funds, contacting city representatives, or simply using the greenway. We also appreciate the High Point Enterprise for bringing this issue to public attention, which allowed us to mobilize and show strong opposition at the February 3rd City Council meeting.
We thank the university for appropriately responding to community feedback and urge them to prioritize proactive engagement with residents in the future. We also appreciate the city council members who listened to their constituents, considered alternatives, and remained open to dialogue.
What’s Next?
March 1 – The High Point Athletic Club will host their weekly group run from Armstrong Park, with coffee and snacks available from 7:30–10 AM. Come by to walk, run, bike, and play on the greenway we fought to preserve!
Financial Transparency
The GoFundMe donations will be used to reimburse those who purchased signs and advertisements. The majority of funds will go toward reimbursing Eileen and Pete Roberts, who covered over $4,000 in advertising costs for full-page ads in the High Point Enterprise. Their generosity played a critical role in raising awareness, and we are deeply grateful.

High Point University is attempting to purchase and reroute a section of the Greenway, taking public land for private use. We are raising funds to spread awareness about the university's proposal. Many residents still don't know this is happening, and we need to make sure City Council understands the full scope of community opposition.
Many have told us they believe this deal is already decided—but that only happens if we stay silent. The city needs to hear from us. Our elected representatives are accountable to the people, but they can't fight for us if we don't speak up. Make your voice heard and demand that public land remains public.
Your donation will help us inform the community by funding:
- Newspaper ads to raise public awareness. These items alone can cost between $700 and $1300 per ad. We want to be able to advertise as long as it is required.
- Yard signs and t-shirts to show visible opposition across our community.
- Fliers to educate residents on what's at stake.
Every day, we meet someone who just learned about this proposal and is outraged. With your help, we can make sure everyone knows and takes action. Donate today to help us protect our Greenway!
