Save Our Footbridge (Gerrards Cross)
Donation protected
Hi, we are the Gerrards Cross Save Our Footbridge Community Action Group which aims to preserve our local high-level footbridge.
The footbridge, which connects Orchehill Avenue to Layter’s Way, has been part of our community for over a century (photographs date it back to at least 1905), but Network Rail has decided to demolish and replace it because it is falling into disrepair. However, it is still fit for pedestrian use, and so what our group proposes is that Network Rail maintains the bridge instead of outright demolishing it.
As a group, we have been working hard by contacting Network Rail and heritage trusts to try and prevent what has been planned from happening. We are still working, and so any donation would be welcome - we will use the money to support our campaigning, lobbying, marketing and social media campaigns to save our beloved footbridge and preserve such a vital part of Gerrard's Cross's proud industrial heritage. For example, some of the funds will go towards keeping our website up (you can visit it at: https://save-our-footbridge-gx.squarespace.com/)
