Save Our Community Pool Tucson Park West 1

We are the Tucson Park West 1 neighborhood association, representing our wonderful TPW1 community.

In addition to our fantastic neighbors and the beautiful surrounding nature, one thing that truly sets TPW1 apart is our community pool. We are one of the few neighborhoods on the West Side that has its own community pool, and we think that's pretty darn special!

Tucson Park West 1 residents take pride in our homes and in fostering a sense of community. Our neighborhood pool is an anchor in our community. It not only increases our property value; it also increases our quality of life and fosters our sense of connection with our families and neighbors.

As many of you know, the pool had to be drained last season after a costly repair. In April 2021, the power to our electric meter was cut by builders on the neighboring property. The pumps were off for several days while we worked with TEP to get the meter replaced and power restored. During this time, the algae took over the pool and could not be corrected with chemicals, which resulted in it needing to be drained. The neighborhood association had to pay for the drainage and refill of the pool, in addition to resetting the chemicals. We had to bring in pool specialists to adjust the chemical levels, which is when it became clear our filters and pumps were not functioning properly.

The replacement of the filters and pumps cost over $3,000 and had to be covered by funds from the neighborhood association. We do not have an HOA or mandatory membership fees to help with funding, and without funding assistance, we will not be able to keep the pool in operation for more than the upcoming season.

Our pool is a gathering place for our family and friends to enjoy time together and provides a much-needed respite from hot weather. Our children have enjoyed this special place every year since our neighborhood was first built, and it has remained a beloved gathering place for us all.
