The major employer in our little village shutdown the operation of the pulp mill, approximately 40 months ago. This year they have defaulted on their property taxes. As a direct result of this the Village of Port Alice has had no choice but to shutter our Ice Arena.  All hockey and curling activities have been put into limbo for this year. Although, $250,000 is a lofty goal to strive for, we hope that our Town Council will see this as a major boost and reopen the arena.
