Bagworth & District Working Men’s Club was formed in 1919 by the hands of local miners who wanted a place for their families to thrive. For 107 years, we have been the heartbeat of the village—surviving wars, economic shifts, and a century of change. Today, we are facing our toughest challenge yet.
Surviving on "Coal Era" infrastructure in 2026 has left us vulnerable to skyrocketing energy costs. Our electricity bills have trebled, and as a non-profit community hub, every penny we have is currently going just to keep the lights on. We are at a crossroads: we either modernise, or we close our doors forever.
Why we need your help:
We are currently applying for grants to install solar panels and move to a more sustainable model. However, grant funding takes months to arrive, and funds are running low. We urgently need your support to continue to support everyone in the community. We are a member's club, but we are here to support the community & want to be here to continue supporting local community groups.
Your donations will go directly toward:
Keeping the Doors Open: Ongoing costs to prevent closureas early as this year.
Restoring our Space: Funding much-needed painting and decorating to make the hall a welcoming space for the village. We're also hoping to be able to provide a warm hub for the village once we get the renewables & insulation in place.
The Green Transition: Helping us match-fund the renewable energy grants that will secure our future for the next 100 years.
Our Community:
From our indoor shooting to our weekly craft sessions and the quiet space we provide for members recovering from mental health challenges—this club is a lifeline. It is a place where a "soft drink and a chat" isn't just a transaction; it's a vital connection to the world. Even Bingo is the only time some of our members get out of the house & interact with other people.
Please help us protect the 1919 legacy. Whether it’s the price of a pint or a larger gift, every pound ensures that Bagworth doesn't lose its history or its home.
Help us keep the lights on for another century.
