Save Off The Cuff venue
Donation protected
Off The Cuff Music Bar, South London is under serious threat of closure. This is a crowdfund to raise money to pay for legal representation for a rent review - initiated by us - Antony Porter & Jennifer Labbett (Co-owners of Off The Cuff Music Bar). We hope to obtain a ‘breathing space’ rent review with our landlord so that Off The Cuff can remain open.
Any money raised for this crowdfund not spent on legal representation will be donated to Youth Music Charity by 1st Dec 2024.
If you don’t know Off The Cuff Music Bar, we are a grassroots music venue with a fully equipped stage nested within two conjoined railway arches. We host commercial music events, parties and also donate our venue space freely to local community events. These are:
JOM Youth Open Mic - an award-winning community group that runs the largest free open mic in the UK for young people - (ages 4-18). More than 1000 young people have experienced stepping up onto our stage in the 7 years they’ve been running.
Monday night Jazz Jam with local saxophonist Roger Humbles
Live Rugby events with Tongan ex-pro rugby player Paul Koloi
Herne Hill Forum events
Herne Hill Film Festival showcases
Since going public about our financial situation in January 2024 the local community has rallied to form Save Off The Cuff Community Group. Now 30 strong they are organising Bandathon - a two day free musical festival featuring acts from the youth open mic at Off The Cuff blended with local grown-up acts. Their mission is to bring more locals to our venue with the cry ‘Help Save Off The Cuff - and buy a drink at the bar!’ This initiative has gained the attention of the national media. BBC Radio 6 and ITV News are covering Bandathon which is on 18th and 25th February 2024 from 10am-11pm. The events are compered by comedians Joe Brand and Kerry Godliman.
We are humbled and extremely grateful for their support.
If you can donate £20 (or more) to our cause we’ll see you at Off The Cuff Music Bar and shake your hand.

“Off The Cuff has donated their stage and equipment freely to JOM Youth Open Mic freely for the last 7 years. They’ve even paid for the sound engineer. They’ve let us buy soft drinks from Tescos so we can give every young person who steps up to perform a free drink. Their venue and kindness has been the driver for bringing more than 1000 young people to JOM (a free community group) and giving young people an appetite to start their musical journey. We are indebted to Off The Cuff.”
