Oakland Unified School District has been systematically closing public schools and privatizing education by opening billionaire-backed charter schools. The community has joined together to say ENOUGH! The group, Oakland Not For Sale, is working tirelessly to hold our elected officials on the School Board accountable and we now need your financial support. The children of Oakland are depending on us!
Please donate what you can to support our advocacy and help us achieve our goals which are to:
1. Have a moratorium placed on school closures until the 2020 election so extra funding from the State and the Schools and Communities First Initiative can be assessed.
2. Demand that the County stop investing in the school to prison pipeline by reallocating $75 million planned to expand a youth probation camp back into public schools.
3. Stop the privatization of our public schools by repealing Board policy BP6006 that allows the District to turn public schools over to charter management companies.
4. Let the people see the money! Involve the community in making decisions around OUSD finances.
