This is Nova. She’s just 5 years old, still playful, loving, and full of life.

But recently, Nova began showing signs of a serious neurological issue. We’re now taking her to the University of Tennessee to see a neurosurgeon—and we’re scared. The vets believe it could be one of two things:

A herniated disc, which is painful but treatable, though the testing and surgery will be expensive.

Or degenerative myelopathy, a heartbreaking and incurable disease that slowly paralyzes dogs from the waist down.

We’re holding out hope that it’s a disc issue—because Nova deserves a chance at a happy, pain-free life. She’s not just a pet. My wife and I don’t have children; our dogs are our kids. Nova is my wife’s pride and joy, her shadow, her comfort, and her best friend.

We're doing everything we can, but the cost of impending MRIs, specialist visits, and possible surgery is overwhelming. That’s why we’re reaching out.
