My name is Sara WIll-White and I have teamed up with Violet Wade Martin to help draw attention to and try to stop the proposed Lithium-ion battery storage facility in the Town of Northampton. For those that maybe unaware the Town of Northampton Planning board approved a special use permit for the property located at 1030 NY-30 in the Town of Northampton in December of 2025. After a public meeting where 5 people attended to make public comments in November. The town published their legal notice about the meeting in the Leader-Harold newspaper at the beginning of October. Carson Power also submitted an application to the Adirondack Park Agency (APA) for the project for approval. It was only once the APA put out their legal notice for public comment on the project, did people become aware of what was being proposed. I submitted a petition with over 500 signatures to the APA comment portal, made several public comments myself as well. The APA approved the permit and that sets new precedence in the Adirondack park for these types of projects to be approved. The APA has stated they have 8 more pre-applications on their "desk". This is why it's pivotal we stop the Northampton Project, not just for my community but for the entire Adirondack community. We are trying to raise funds to hire our own attorney to take this on for the community. We have spoken to one law firm and we have been quoted 2k to get things started. We believe in transparency with this campaign an will be sharing updates along the way. We still hold faith that our town board will step up and do the right thing here and listen to the people! But in case they don't we need to protect ourselves as a community and we support thus community and lake we all love so much. Please help us stop this project and save the lake.
