Hello dear friends,
I am writing this with a lot of hope. I met Neslihan in June, when her 2 weeks old daughter needed an immediate heart surgery in Istanbul. She contacted me on social media and I had to ask for doctor reports. I was very busy at the time so I scheduled a phone call with her for 5 days later. When I talked to her on video chat 5 days later I regretted that I didn't take immediate action. Nevertheless, we quickly got a non-profit's (Ahbap) help (6000 TL- $800) for the heart surgery and their relocation from Mardin to Istanbul. And as soon as we got the green light we scheduled her surgery and they all flied to Istanbul. It was their first time in Istanbul too.

But Irem needed to stay in the hospital longer than planned and they ended up staying a month in Istanbul which made them go in more debt. Thankfully Irem is now fine though she has other minor issues but their living condition is not ideal for her health (or anyone's health).
I have been trying to help with their flights, diapers and food but their living situation is a lot more urgent. They are in about $2500 in debt and they have been living in this place that used to be Neslihan's in laws' barn and they turned it into a living space with no restorations. They take showers in the kitchen and they don't even own a refrigerator or a decent stove or water heater so they have to boil water on a portable stove to take hot showers when it gets freezing cold in Mardin during winter.

You can see in the pictures that the place is getting moldy too. Neslihan's husband is a security worker in a mall and is making minimum wage working 6 days a week, Neslihan is trying to get work too but having two kids with one of them needing special care is not helping her situation. They were not expecting Irem and Irem's birth have put them in more and more debt. If they didn't owe anything to anyone, they can live with minimum wage (~$300/ month) on a rental home (~$100/m) and even save up.

Neslihan's story is very touchy to me for personal reasons. She is from the same city, Mardin, where my family is from and the things she has gone through are so relatable to what the elderly women in my family experienced. I will do my best to provide a nice home to Neslihan and her family. Anything you could donate, $5, $10 or $100; I will really appreciate it. I promise you I will share all the details and new pictures with you. If you want, I can put you in contact with them too. My goal is to help this family to have a decent life. I want Neslihan and her daughters live in humane conditions and have a washing machine and refrigerator and so on. We just need to close their debt for the first step. The rest is on me. If you could spare anything, please donate.
