My name is Mona, and I live in Gaza, Palestine, where war and destruction surround us from every side. I am a mother to orphaned children who lost their father in the war that struck our city. I lost my home and my personal work—I used to work as a makeup artist—and everything has turned gray. Since that day, our lives have completely changed.

My children—Islam, Yaqeen, and Al-Muatasim—live with me, and I care for them every day after losing their father. Our life is extremely difficult; we have no home, no food, and no clothing, and we face cold, hunger, and fear every day.
