Save Mergoat Mag!!
Donation protected
TL;DR — our peeps at Mergoat Mag are suffering and need to raise 12.5k in order to keep providing the services and publications that our communities desperately need. You are our best chance. Donate, share… pester your friends to help them out.
Hello friends of Mergoat Mag, environmentalists, and social activists!
Taryn and Steph here! Our friends, Mergoat Mag, need your help. We have been working to organize a fundraiser (originally scheduled for November) that would have brought in enough to keep the mag alive with all contributors paid. With the recent tragedies and challenges brought on by Hurricane Helene, our good friends at Mergoat have been focused on being a conduit of information about reliable and available resources for our neighbors in Western NC, Southwest VA and Northeast TN, a guide for those who want to help through physical or monetary means, and they have been making runs to effected areas bringing supplies and able bodies. They do this with no expectation of payment or recognition as they are embedded in community care. As a result, fundraising activity for themselves has come to a screeching, albeit understandable, halt.
All while this is happening Mergoat is suffering… bad. To say it plainly, if we don’t raise 10k, the production of Mergoat Mag will be required to drastically change. This is the amount needed to take the current issue to print. With this base goal in mind, an additional $2,500 would help cover the costs of shipping the issues.
If you don’t know already know, Sorrel and Hazel are the visionaries, workhorses, organizers, designers, and all things Mergoat Mag. They are two people trying their hardest to be thoughtful, caring, and attentive members of ours and the world community. They are supported by two incredible and essential part-time folks, Mira Lorraine May and Aaron Searcy, who provide support with distribution and copyediting. They need us to step up and help them survive this time of need so they can continue to show up in the milliard of ways the world asks of them.
So, here’s the deal. We need you to help through donation and spreading the word. There is no donation or act of kindness too small. Any proceeds over the $12.5k goal will go directly back into community based mutual aid for those affected by Hurricane Helene.
We thank you in advance on behalf of Mergoat Mag, we love you, and stay safe.
