Save Malawian farmers from the effects of COVID-19
Donation protected
Malawi has a population of 18.14 million people, 84% who are farmers living in rural areas. These 11 million people are not being spared from the adverse effects of COVID-19.
The population living in rural areas lacks access to information about COVID-19, including what precautions to take to ensure safety. Additionally, a nation-wide shutdown directly threatens Malawian’s access to food, education and resources. In a nation where 54% of the population is living on less than a 1$ a day, the effects of COVID-19 are particularly acute.
ACADES is a non-profit which economically empowers youth and women through agricultural skills training, farm input loans and providing access to profitable markets. ACADES groups see income increases from $1,500-$8,500 per season and over 1,800 youth are now able to feed their families throughout the year.
In response to COVID-19, ACADES is informing farmers about the facts and necessary precautions of the pandemic. Additionally, they are setting up a loan facility that provides farmers with farm imports such as seed and fertilizer. Please donate to support those most affected by this pandemic.
