All the achievements along the years:

*** Milestone 4 ***
Straw storage shed for keeping the straw dry to avoid decomposition of it. This was important to ensure that the compost toilet site has always the right quality topping materials.
Built with traditional techniques, smearing (locally sourced clay mixed with organic matter) on wooden framework.

The inside of the wall after the second smearing.

*** Milestone 3 ***

With your help, the fundraising for the period products reached and went even above the target.
Women in our community engaged with this issue so much that Lucy could buy a nice kit for each girl which is really nice as they didn't have even a bag to carry these products.
Thank you to every and each donors who made this happen

*** Milestone 2 ***
You're awesome, the five children had the opportunity to stay in the education but this half-term already gone and they need support to be able to finish the year.

*** Milestone 1 ***
The first project is being finished, the compost toilet site is nearly ready to get used by the community

Another urgent issue is to find funding for 5 students to start the secondary school.

Fundraising to buy life-changing garden elements for Lucy's children institute
In a fair and just world it would be relatively easy to find funds for this important improvement but, as you will see, I have to ask your help.

Lucy Achieng Agenga is the project coordinator of a charity that provides working opportunity and food for their beneficiaries who are mostly widowed mothers, orphans and others in need.

Now, that sounds like a cause that everyone would support, but not in Kenya...

I know Lucy since last June and now I know why she sleeps only a few hours at night. When she says they are short of food then it means that without help the children and everyone will have to survive on porridge drink.

No, there's no state aid, no benefits and nothing but some land that they try to cultivate in permaculture. Even though they have two growing season the garden is small and doesn't give enough food all year round.

With my support they've been able to cultivate another land but there's always something that doesn't let Lucy sleep well.

The toilet site is too old and filled up so they urgently need to build a new one. This is where I came up with my idea: what about making a compost toilet site that would be a source of free organic fertilizer from next year so you can save money and increase the yield?

Two days later we had the quote (see the full quote below) for the materials needed to build a 4 doors site in total of KES 83,360 (£554.34 currently).

This would be a safe and healthy toilet for the community and a source of fine compost after a while.

I'm desperate to find funds for this project and knowing how easy it would be in the UK makes me more confident that you understand me.

I'm doing a local litter picking in a bit dodgy place (1) to make more awareness of this fundraising campaign in our local area but if you could share it with your friends that would be great.

(1) Along Lon Parcwr, Ruthin from Tesco in between the pavement and the fences where bushes and trees make it hard to clean the area.

This is my only birthday wish I'm 44 on the 27th of March and am optimistic about to reach even a bit bigger goal that would allow us to buy straw for the compost site, maize seeds (£16) to sow in the new land and if you're as great as I think then there will be some money left for hens. It costs £5 each and they need around 40 to start a small business that would help them become sustainable!) They already got the hatchery machine donated that would allow them to breeding hens.
