We are witnessing a flood of proposed renewable energy schemes on an industrial scale across the Highlands, desecrating the natural environment and damaging communities.

Opposing this top down, techno-fix and knee jerk response to the policy focus of ‘Net Zero’, we consider energy solutions need to be much more strategically planned, regionally devolved, community led and nature focused in order to be genuinely green and sustainable.

Glen Earrach’s Pump Storage Hydro project is one of the largest energy projects proposed for Highlands, and we strongly object to its planning application, which will be decided not in the Highlands but by a government unit in Edinburgh.

The sheer scale and duration of the project with its huge dams causing the irreversible erosion of our sacred and biodiverse landscape, destroys natural ecosystems, threatens local communities and our tourism dependent local economy.

The shortfalls we have exposed in the project’s Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) underpin our objections and are explained fully on our website: Save Loch Ness .

To be able to support this objection, possibly all the way to a public inquiry, will require additional financial resources. Donations will be used to help raise awareness and to fund expert technical advice on areas of the EIA which require the rigour and wise counsel of an experienced planning consultant to strengthen our case and formalise our response.

Any contribution you can make helps and is very much appreciated.
