⚙️☘️ Save Lives: Fight Malaria with Economic Empowerment

Donation protected
✨♥️ Malaria kills a child nearly every minute. In rural Ethiopia, the best way to stop it is to fight poverty — by fueling opportunity.
In two remote farming villages in Ethiopia, families are rising out of poverty and malaria — one harvest at a time.

But for one of these communities, all that’s missing is diesel fuel for their tractor.

☘️ Poverty Fuels Malaria — Farming Fights Both

Malaria thrives where poverty is deepest:
  • Families can’t afford mosquito control.
  • Stagnant water collects in unplowed fields, creating mosquito breeding grounds.
  • Illness keeps children out of school and adults from working.
With more time and income, farmers are empowered to:
✔️Drain standing water where mosquitoes breed
✔️Feed their families and build stronger local economies
✔️ Protect their communities with locally funded mosquito control

This is the MATE model — Mosquito Abatement Through Empowerment — where economic strength leads to better health.

⛽️ The Clock is Ticking: Tractor Fuel Needed Now ⛽️

⚙️ The Miracle of Two Tractors ⚙️
Thanks to a $67,000 Rotary grant, MATE bought two tractors for the price of one — and delivered them to the villages of Yejube and Tibaga.

Yejube’s tractor is already working the land to grow food and build revenue that will fund local mosquito control efforts.

But in Tibaga, more than 250 families are ready to farm and can’t.
They have:
  • Seeds and fertilizer
  • Land and labor
  • The will to work
But no diesel.

The rainy and prime growing season is just around the corner. If we don’t fuel the tractor now, Tibaga will lose its best harvest and its chance to invest in malaria control this year.

✴️ Fuel = Farming = Health
This isn’t just about fuel. It’s about building economic self-reliance that saves lives:
  • A full tank empowers farmers to grow crops worth thousands of dollars.
  • Profits from those crops help the village fund local mosquito monitoring, larvicide, and public health.
  • Independence breaks the cycle of foreign dependency — and malaria.
$$ -Your Impact- $$
Every donation fuels real change — literally.
  • $50 buys enough diesel to plow 2 acres, growing 2,000+ pounds of teff, a nutrient-rich, ancient grain that’s a staple in Ethiopian diets.
  • $110 funds a full tank to farm 5 acres of teff that’s worth over $8,000 at the market.
  • $275 powers a full 15-acre field, producing up to 9,000 pounds of teff and laying the foundation for sustainable malaria control.
  • $550 for fuel puts over 30 acres into production — creating a powerful ripple of harvest and hope.
The more you give, the more land they farm — and the more lives you help transform.

Over 180 acres have been farmed in the last four weeks! The more fuel they have the more they can grow their community.
