I am writing this because I am at a breaking point. My home, my health, and my dog’s life are all on the line at the exact same time.
My name is Cody, and I live in Pontiac. Since August, I’ve been fighting an uphill battle after being the victim of a physical assault that left me with a shoulder injury. This led to a nightmare termination from my job, and I am currently in a legal battle over $8,600 in stolen wages.
I have done everything to stay afloat, but the "perfect storm" has officially hit:
The Eviction Crisis: Due to the wage theft and my injury, I have fallen behind. My total balance for rent and utilities has reached $2,665, and I have received a Demand for Possession. If I cannot pay this, I will lose my home and have nowhere to take my dog.
Lana’s Medical Emergency: My dog, Lana, is my life. She has a mammary tumor that is growing rapidly. While I initially hoped the costs would be lower, her actual surgical estimate for the procedure and biopsy is $3,874.30. Seeing her in pain while I struggle to keep our roof is heartbreaking.
The Path Forward: There is a light at the end of the tunnel. I have a second-round, in-person interview with United Wholesale Mortgage (UWM) on January 7th. This is a career-starting position that will allow me to be self-sufficient again. I just need a bridge to survive until that first paycheck arrives.
How Your Donation Helps ($6,540 Goal):
$2,665: To pay the full balance of rent/utilities and stop the eviction.
$3,875: To cover Lana’s life-saving surgery and post-op care.
Transparency & Trust: I have the police report from my assault, the wage theft filings, and the formal vet’s estimate. I am happy to provide proof to any donor who wants to ensure their money is going exactly where I say it is.
Even $5 or $10 makes a difference. If you can’t donate, please share this. I am so close to a fresh start with this new job—I just need to make sure Lana and I have a home to come back to.
Thank you for your kindness and for helping me protect my girl, Lana.
