Thank you for your help saving Kensington Playground! We did it! On December 6, 2025 a new playground opened in the park complete with a swing set, a playscape with two slides, and a new splash pad! Kids are overjoyed!

Friends of Kensington Playground continues our work to improve the park. We will keep this GoFundMe page open to accept donations that will be used to host family friendly events in the park.

For those of you not familiar with Kensington Playground, it is the largest public parkland in the Dwight neighborhood of New Haven and the neighborhood’s only public playground. Located at 25 Kensington Street on a quiet one-way street, the park is surrounded on all sides by families with children.

The Dwight neighborhood is a low-income, high-density neighborhood situated in central New Haven adjacent to Yale University and Yale New Haven Hospital's St Raphael campus. 92% of Dwight's residents are renters.

Friends of Kensington Playground is a 501(c)(3) charity. Donations are tax-exempt and can be made on our GoFundMe page or by check payable to “Friends of Kensington Playground.”
