HELP REBUILD JAYNII STREETWISE FOUNDATION

In the summer of 2017, we, Antje and Alexa Mangeant and Vida Bailey travelled to the coastal town of Jamestown close to the capital Accra in Ghana.
Not really knowing what to expect, we were greeted with open and welcoming arms by Nii and his wife Jay, a Ghanian power-couple and the kindest people we had ever met. Nii and Jay are not just loving parents to their two young children, but to any and every child that seeks out the safety and balance provided by them.
Jay and Nii are the founders of a charity organisation called Jaynii Streetwise which is solely run by them. Their mission is to provide a safe place for children living in Jamestown, but their generosity is endless as they also sponsor and encourage children to attend school and university, cook and feed them, offer them places to learn, shower, play and sleep. Everything a child deserves.
The few weeks we lived under their roof, we were treated like family. Nii is an incredible entrepreneur with a giant heart as he finds ways to support as many children as possible. Jay is a brilliant force of nature, with wisdom and wit and endless love who never turns a single child away, no matter the circumstance.
Most of the residents of Jamestown live in extreme poverty, which means that unprotected children are very vulnerable, and many of them have been through the unimaginable.
During our stay at Jaynii Streetwise we became incredibly close to Jay and Nii and all the children that lived there, or that came to eat, sleep, play and learn there. The ages ranged from 3 to 18 years old, though most of them where under the age of 10. We organised games and played with them, had individual reading and writing lessons, and read them bedtime stories — their favourite activity.
Everyday was full of fun for us and kids and even though we were aware that we came from very different places in the world, we were continuously reminded of the kindness of our shared human heart. They taught us about their beautiful culture, undying faith, music and amazing cooking. We were able to share and exchange stories about our lives and the hopes and dreams we had for the future, a future they were allowed to dream about due to the support provided by Jaynii Streetwise.
But that might not be the case anymore.
This morning on May 22nd at 10:00am GMT, we awoke from a horrifying video from Nii showing piles of rubble, discarded clothes, mattresses and rubbish in the place where there had been a kitchen, classroom, bedroom, showers and play-area. Nii wrote
“Without prior notice, relocation nor compensation, Jaynii Streetwise Organisation www.jaynii.com that takes care of needy children by providing them with education, poverty alleviation and child empowerment in Jamestown, Accra, Ghana, have been forcibly ejected and demolished during this hard times.”
With devastated and broken hearts, we want to help our family and are reaching out to any and everyone who can help. They are currently homeless, and the children will now be exposed to the harshness of the virus and the street itself.
We are equally aware that these are already difficult times for many people, but 5 Pounds = 35.18 Ghanian Cedi, (5 Euros = 31.51) enough to buy several children warm and nourishing meals.
If you are unable to donate, please share this with as many people as possible.
Humanity is what connects us all <3
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts,
Antje, Alexa and Vida.
