My name is Angela Oliveira, and I am Isabellita’s godmother and cousin. I am currently desperate to support my family during this painful and uncertain time.

Isabellita, a 6-year-old girl, has been in a critical, life-or-death condition for a month after being diagnosed with autoimmune encephalitis—a serious illness in which the immune system attacks the brain, leaving her unconscious. Since the onset of her illness, she has faced multiple complications, including hospital-acquired bronchopneumonia, fever, vomiting, digestive problems, and recurring infections, as her immune system is now very weak.

Her first treatment with immunoglobulin has not worked or shown any improvement. The second treatment, rituximab, could not be administered because she developed bronchopneumonia, making her condition too fragile to proceed. Although she no longer requires a ventilator, she remains unconscious and in an encephalopathic state, showing significant brain damage.

We are from Chiclayo, Peru, and she is currently being treated at the Regional Hospital of Lambayeque. Her life remains at serious risk, and we are trying to transfer her to the capital—about a 12-hour drive away—where a specialized children’s hospital can provide the advanced care she urgently needs. Our family has very limited financial resources and depends entirely on government health insurance.

Every moment counts. We are urgently seeking donations to help cover the transfer and medical treatments that are essential to save Isabellita’s life. We do not know how long she will need to stay in the capital—likely several months—far from her family, and the funds will also help support her and the family during this difficult time.
