Hello, my name is Craig Redmond and I am the Commander of Earnest Morgan Post 217. We are seeking your help.
Ernest Morgan American Legion Post 217, located in Statesville, NC, has been a cornerstone of community and veteran support since its founding after World War I. The post is named for Ernest Morgan, a native of Iredell County who gave his life in service to our nation. Inside the post, the walls are lined with photographs of veterans—our grandparents, aunts, and uncles—who proudly served their country, many during a time when equality was denied to them. This post stands as a living reminder of their courage, sacrifice, and legacy.
For decades, Post 217 has hosted birthdays, anniversaries, reunions, memorials, and countless community events. Sadly, the building is now in critical disrepair. The sewage system has failed, the air conditioning no longer works, and the structure is deteriorating rapidly. Without immediate help, this historic post risks closure.
Our vision is to restore and renew Post 217 so it may continue to serve as a gathering place for veterans, families, and the community. Our immediate needs include:

Sewage system repair

Air conditioning repair

New floors, chairs, tables, and kitchen stove

Parking lot repair and gazebo improvements
