Save Historic Beverly Hot Springs!

As members of the Save Beverly Hot Springs Alliance, we ask that you help us protect the only remaining hot springs in Los Angeles from developers who plan to cap the 2200 foot well and build a 101 unit apartment complex in its place. Beverly Hot Springs was first discovered in 1910 and has played a vital role in the community ever since. The first incarnation of the springs served the community’s water use needs for over 100,000 people. A few decades later the waters were bottled and sold as “Wonder Water”. In the 1980s the springs were adopted by the Korean community as a medical center and later a public spa. To this day, the waters are nationally known for their healing and therapeutic qualities.

The LA City Planning Commission unanimously approved the proposed complex during a hearing on May 11th, 2023. We retained an attorney and filed an appeal giving us until September 14, 2023, to investigate concerns of destruction to the landmark springs, environmental issues, building density and traffic problems that this project presents. Additionally, the proposal offered by developers makes no mention of the valued history the springs have shared with the Los Angeles community, deeming the springs as inconsequential.
