Save Harkaway's Rural Character

Harkaway is a semi-rural hamlet characterised by its bushland setting within Melbourne's Green Wedge. Its small and connected community enjoy its amenity that includes its walking and equestrian trails; its village atmosphere and community primary school. Maintaining Harkaway's rural character and the integrity of its Green Wedge situation in the face of encroaching urban sprawl requires the focus and commitment of all within the community and the broader City of Casey. We need to raise funds to fight back against inappropriate commercial development; to advocate for proper planning scheme protection and to commission projects that enhance the existing amenity of Harkaway.
Philip Battye is the Convenor of the Friends of Harkaway Association.  Donations will be spent on expenses incurred by the Association that help to maintain Harkaway's rural character.  In particular your donations will help fund:
(a) The launch and management of the www.harkawaylife.com website that showcases Harkaway and its unique rural character;
(b) Beautification and/or land management projects within Harkaway that enhance its rural character;
(c) Engagement of experts including town planning; legal and associated to fund the Association's  opposition to developments that it considers threaten Harkaway's rural character; and
(d) Submissions to government advocating zoning or other protections that maintain and enhance Harkaway's rural character.
