Save Halton Royal British Legion Club!

Halton Royal British Legion Club is facing immediate closure due to inherited debt, and without urgent support we risk losing a cornerstone of our community. We are not just a social club – we are the beating heart of Runcorn.

Over half the town’s population have used our facilities at some point in the last 12 months, whether for Sunday lunches, weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, or funerals. We provide a space where families come together to celebrate, grieve, and connect.

For the past 12 months, our dedicated volunteers and commitee members have worked endlessly to keep the club open, giving their time and energy to protect a place that matters deeply to so many. Today, we have been faced with a historic, demanding damaging and extensive overdue bill which now threatens to close the club for good.

Our club is home to thriving pool, darts, and snooker teams; veterans’ associations that support those who have served; and vital community resources such as our Community Store and Digital Suite, helping people access affordable essentials and bridge the digital divide.

If we are forced to close, the community loses far more than a building – we lose a safe, inclusive, and supportive space that has been central to local life for generations.

We urgently need to raise funds to prevent closure. Every donation, large or small, will help secure the future of Halton Royal British Legion Club and protect the vital role we play in our community.

Together, we can save our club – and with it, a piece of Runcorn’s heart.

We wanted to thank everyone for being so kind and generous during this really difficult time for the club..

We have raised an incredible amount of money in such a short time. Overwhelmed with gofundme and cash donations. That's all down to you. You have kept our staff in a job, and our members and veterans a safe welcoming space to go to.

The total outstanding bill was £62,000. Today we managed to make a payment of a fraction of what they wanted - which has held them off from disconnecting our supply on 2nd October, we are not out of the woods yet, this has left us with a remaining balance and only 12 months to pay extensive instalments... on top of our normal weekly bill.
