Save Hall Moss Fields

Donation protected
Jones Homes have distributed a “community consultation leaflet” to selected Bramhall residents indicating their intention to build around 250 new homes on open fields off Hall Moss Lane, Bramhall. The fields have protected status within Stockport Council’s Unitary Development Plan (UDP) as they are within the Stockport Green Belt. Unlike many sites that have come forward for housing development in the area recently the Hall Moss fields have never been previously developed in any form. This makes them a very special asset worthy of continued protection.

Over 300 local residents have already written to Jones Homes indicating their objection, in principle, to the development and their intention to formally object to any planning application made. A community group has been established to fight the residents corner and a crowd funding exercise is about to commence to enable the residents to formally organise their objections when the expected planning application is made. An application is expected in June/July 2025.

The Hall Moss fields are currently used for grazing sheep and horses and for haymaking in the Summer months. The fields include, and are surrounded by, trees and ancient hedgerows where a wide range of bird species are regularly seen. The fields house a number of ponds where bats in significant numbers are a constant feature. The ponds are a natural habitat resource for marginal plants, frogs, newts, toads, small fish and dragonflies.

Crucially, the fields are an important open space for the Bramhall community and allow direct access to the Woodford Recreation grounds along an established cycle and walking pathway adjacent to the A555, and directly via a public footpath through the site.

We need your support to fund legal advice, planning assessments, and a campaign to challenge this development. Every donation, no matter how small, helps us fight to keep Hall Moss Fields safe for our community and for future generations.

Join us in standing up for nature and preserving this vital green space!

Our Action Group of eight residents will oversee the allocation of funds.
