Preserve a Legacy of Compassion in Dallas
Hello friends, family, and compassionate supporters,
My name is DeAnte Toombs, and I'm reaching out to share the story of my grandmother, Irene Ridge—a woman whose heart was as vast as Texas and whose home became a sanctuary for many.
The Legacy:
For over 30 years, Irene dedicated her life to education and community service in Dallas. Her home wasn't just a residence; it was a refuge for exchange students, foster children, disaster survivors, and anyone in need. Imagine a place where the aroma of freshly baked cookies welcomed you, and the door was always open—literally, we had to fix that lock multiple times!
Challenges Faced:
In 2018, Irene began taking prescribed blood pressure medication. Tragically, within a year, she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, a side effect later linked to the medication. She passed away just before the COVID-19 pandemic, leaving behind a legacy of love and service. My mother and I have since maintained her home, establishing a nonprofit called "The No Judgment Zone," continuing her mission of compassion.
However, unforeseen challenges, including a devastating freeze in 2021, have placed us at risk of foreclosure. Despite reducing the mortgage from a burdensome amount, the balance has now risen to $60,000.
Our Plea:
We're reaching out to you—those who believe in community—to help us save this cherished home. Your support will ensure that Grandma Irene's legacy continues to thrive, providing a sanctuary for those in need.
Call-to-Action:
Please consider donating and sharing our story. Together, we can keep the spirit of Irene alive!
