Dear friends, family, and compassionate supporters,
I’m Dana Hobart and I’m reaching out with an urgent plea to keep my incredible son, Graham, and me from losing our home in Visalia, CA. We’ve faced homelessness before, back in 2016, and it nearly cost me my life—I was hospitalized three times with pneumonia, fighting to survive. Now, we’re on the brink of eviction again and I’m pleading for your help to protect Graham, a 29-year-old whose kindness inspires everyone, even as he battles constant pain. Graham’s heart is unmatched. His first words as a toddler were “thank you,” a reflection of his grateful, selfless spirit. Before his accident, he was the coworker who gave rides to anyone in need, even after grueling warehouse shifts. He’d stop to help strangers with broken-down cars, using his love for auto repair to get them back on the road. Even now, despite chronic pain, Graham’s gratitude shines through—he never forgets to thank those who show him kindness. As his mom, I’m in awe of his strength, but my heart aches knowing we could lose everything.
In 2022, a car accident changed our lives. An elderly driver ran a red light, broadsiding Graham and leaving him with a fractured sacroiliac joint—a hidden injury that took nearly two years to diagnose. Graham pushed through, lifting heavy loads at work, but the pain became unbearable. Now, restricted to lifting no more than 10 pounds, he can no longer work his warehouse job. Determined to rebuild, Graham sought help from the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation to find a new job, but they couldn’t find any jobs suitable for his physical limitations. His state disability funds have run out, and while he’s applied for federal disability, approval could take months. The small settlement from the accident—less than $5,000 after medical bills—was quickly depleted in this economy. We’ve called every agency, organization, and church, but no one has funds for rent assistance. Without your support, Graham and I face eviction next month. Having survived homelessness once, I know its toll—pneumonia nearly killed me, and Graham’s condition makes a stable home critical. We’re asking for a lifeline to keep us safe. How Your Support Will Help:
Your donations will go directly toward:
Paying our rent to keep a safe home in Visalia, California.
Covering utilities to ensure Graham’s comfort and health.
Supporting Graham’s medical needs, like doctor visits and pain management.
We’re humbly asking for [12,000 to cover six months of rent and essentials, giving us time until Graham’s disability is approved. Every dollar counts—$5, $10, or more brings us closer to safety.
Why Graham’s Story Matters:
Graham is a beacon of kindness. He’s the person who’d give his last dollar to help a stranger, the son who says “thank you” through his pain. Despite his efforts to find new work through Vocational Rehabilitation, his injury limits him, and he needs us now. Your support will give Graham the stability to heal and protect us from the health risks of homelessness we’ve barely survived before. Please Share Our Story:
