I am Mahmoud, Ahmed's older brother. I got married a few months before the war, and happiness was short-lived until the war came.

Ahmed is six years old; he was playing next to our house in Gaza when a bomb exploded beside him. That moment turned our lives upside down. Ahmed completely lost his left eye, and after several medical attempts here in Gaza, a plastic eye was placed in its place. But the greater fear is not over yet; his remaining left eye is still at risk of losing its sight if urgent medical intervention is not provided.

Today, Ahmed lives in constant fear of losing his sight completely. The doctors have confirmed to us that there is an urgent need for a complex surgery outside Gaza to save his only healthy eye, but the medical capabilities here do not allow for such operations. We are facing a difficult reality, as traveling and receiving treatment outside Gaza requires resources that we cannot provide on our own.

I write to you with my heart heavy with worries to ask for your help in saving my brother's sight. Ahmed is a part of my life and my family's life, and his pain is our pain. I see the fear in his eyes every day, and I hear him ask our mother in an innocent voice: "When will I see clearly again?" We know that treatment is possible, but we need your support to make it happen.
