Aloha, my name is Angela Lammers, I am long time good friend of Desiree's and I live right around the corner from her where we just experienced a historic Kona Low that brought strong winds and 22 inches of rain in a short period of time. Her house was a direct hit.
I consider her and her parents my ohana and they need us right now. The money being raised is being used to buy items that she will need that have been damaged (theres a huge hole in her kitchen right now), assist in repairs of the roof and ceiling and fix the road that was flooded out. Her house filled with water and another round of rain in coming.
Her sweet old plantation house was a retirement facility for the Kupuna that worked the sugar cane fields and has been her home for 15 years. Right now she is trapped there with her animals and a raging river blocking the driveway and holes in roof with more rain and wind coming. This is day 3 of no power and Maui is not doing well right now. Desiree has been a huge part of the Maui community and she needs us right now. Any donation is welcome to help with the cost of repairing the roof and saving what's inside the house. Mahalo nui loa.
Update: Desiree's parents were also on the property Don and Deborah Strader. They were in the ohana and only got minimal roof damage. Water was just restored Wednesday March 18 and power March 17. Another storm is coming tonight March 19th and they still need out kokua right now. Deborah will be managing this account with my assistance. Mahalo to everyone that is helping. The kids are with their dad and Desiree is in shock. Mahalo. Mahalo. Mahalo.
