Help Save My Father's Home – A Legacy for His Grandchildren

My name is Valerie Hailey, and I’m reaching out to ask for help on behalf of my father, David Hailey—a kind, creative, and intelligent man who has spent his life caring for others and working hard to support his family.

Twenty years ago, my dad suffered a devastating back injury that changed his life forever. Multiple failed surgeries left him with severe nerve damage and neuropathy in his feet. The pain is constant, often unbearable, and it has robbed him of his ability to work, sleep, and live comfortably. Despite his strength and resilience, the toll on his body and spirit has been immense.

In the early years after his injury, my father took out loans in the hope that he would recover and return to work. But healing never came. Now, he survives on social security, and I’ve moved in with him—along with my three children—to help care for him and manage the household. As a single mother, I do all I can, but the financial burden is overwhelming.

This home is more than just a house. It’s the place my dad built with his own hands over 30 years ago—a legacy he intended to pass down to me and his grandchildren. It’s our only asset, and it’s in serious danger.

We are now facing:

$8,450 for a new roof

$10,250 for a full septic system replacement

$16,000 in home repairs

$7,300 in property taxes (3 years behind)

$17,600 in liens from past loans

We’re aiming to raise $60,000 to cover these urgent needs and prevent the loss of our home.
