Eagle Project Fundraising to Build a Clay Recycling Shed at Washington High School
Hi! My name is Jason Lian, and I’m a Life Scout currently working on my Eagle Scout project — the final step toward earning the highest rank in Scouting. For my project, I’m building a custom storage shed for the ceramics program at Washington High School, taught by Mr. Rodenkirk. This isn’t just any shed — it will serve a unique and important purpose: recycling scrap clay.
Right now, Mr. Rodenkirk’s class has clay recycling equipment, but no dedicated space to store it or process used clay. As a result, a lot of usable clay ends up being thrown away, which is extremely wasteful of precious funds as well as harming our fragile environment. My project aims to fix that by building a shed that will house the machinery, protect the tools from damage, and ensure little clay goes to waste, and that used clay gets to be reused over and over again. This not only saves money on new clay but also supports sustainability and hands-on education, encouraging students to learn about recycling clay.
Your donation will go directly toward purchasing building materials like lumber, roofing, hardware, and concrete, as well as supplies to help with construction. Every dollar helps, whether it’s $5 or $50. If you can’t donate, sharing this page with others would also mean a lot.
Thank you for helping me make a lasting difference for the students and teachers at Washington High — and for supporting me on my path to Eagle Scout!
