Casa Rosa is a QTPOC communal house and community gathering space in the central district. 11 people live in our house. You may have met us at a variety of house parties or shows we have graciously opened our home to the community for. We are fundraising money to make rent and keep our home. We were very late on rent last month, and consistently behind on bills, and we need your help keeping our home, and this space available to the community.
We try to ethically run our house without resorting to the tools of capitalism or policing in an ever-increasing moment of gentrification in our city. We attempt to prevent displacement. When people in our home, struggle financially we try hard to give grace and time for people to catch up on their rent. However, due to capitalism, over the years people have had to move out of our house, and some have left with thousands of dollars in debt. We do not chase after or try to sue other BIPOC to get money back. Years of this have taken a toll on our home, and we are now worried about the future of Casa Rosa.
We want to keep our home and maintain this house a community gathering space that is safe for QTBIPOC creatives and sex workers. Please consider contributing so that we can make our rent, and pay some outstanding bills and keep our water on.
We love you all and look forward to hosting you again at our events soon.
