Save Blues Gym: Support Dino Newville's Mission

Hey! My name is Caleb Garces and I am fundraising for Blues Gym in Grand Rapids Michigan. The man in the photo is Dino Newville. He is a four time world kickboxing champion who has fought all over the United States as well as overseas in Japan. Blues Gym is a 501c(3) non-profit organization operated entirely by Dino and his wife Sarah Newville. Dino opened his gym with the desire to help the struggling youth of Grand Rapids, keep them off the streets, and offer them a safe haven for growth and development. His strong christian values and diverse life experiences allow him to provide structure and guidance to individuals of all ages and backgrounds. His heart, soul, and dedication to his cause can be felt the moment you step into his gym. Whether it be a child or adult, Dino never hesitates to extend a helping hand. I have witnessed him positively impact countless individuals, including myself. From offering life advice or holding someone accountable through tough love, to giving someone a pair of boxing shoes, Dino is always there for those in need. He wants to see everyone grow, excel, and succeed. He would give you the shirt off his back if he thought it would help you. He uses boxing and martial arts to help individuals develop essential life skills such as discipline, respect, and integrity all through positive reinforcement. He also has a community center on the second floor of the gym where he offers tutoring and a healthy space to do schoolwork and study.

The magnitude of Dino's effect on Grand Rapids youth as well as the community as a whole is impossible to put into words. Simply put, he is a great man with an even greater cause. Blues Gym is a pinnacle of positivity and community unity in Grand Rapids. There are very few organizations that provide a similar platform for individual development while simultaneously having an extremely high level of inclusivity. Any given individual can walk through the doors and achieve self improvement through joining something bigger than themselves.

The main reason I am starting this GoFundMe for the gym is due to financial strain and an error in tax filing that occurred in 2021. The gym has always been a non-profit organization and due to a misfiling the city is attempting to claim the building for 25,000 dollars in taxes which the gym is unable to pay. Dino and his wife have done an exceptional job gaining sponsors and exposure for their cause. They have even received donations from Floyd Mayweather Sr. as well as Mike Tyson. However, there are always bills to pay and it is expensive to run the gym while also keeping rates and gear affordable for all. With this tax debacle looming over the already challenging financial strain, the gym is in a very tough spot. Come December Dino will have to pay, sell to the city, or fight in court. Every dollar Dino has ever had, he has put towards this gym and his mission of saving kids from going down the wrong path. Donating to this cause is a direct contribution and investment to the betterment of the Grand Rapids community as well as the future of its youth. Anything is appreciated and makes a tremendous difference. Dino and Sarah Newville have been fighting for the Grand Rapids community every day, and it is time we fight with them.
